Extensive renovations were completed on Ray Warren Homes in 2000. Work included total renovation of the kitchens in all units, including installation
of new stoves and refrigerators. Other updates included new tile on the ground floors and refinishing of second-story wood floors and new vanity cabinets in the bathrooms.
A police neighborhood resource center features community-based police officers and resident managers, which increases the safety of the community. A residents’ council plans special events for the community addresses resident needs.
Ray Warren Homes has a community center with after-school and summer programs provided by the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs. It also has an on-site childcare center with a Head Start program for three and four-year olds run by United Child
Development Services, a United Way agency.
2002-03 school assignments are Washington Elementary, Kiser Middle and Grimsley High School.
