Community Programs
The GHA Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program is available at Claremont Courts. The FSS Program offers opportunities for residents to improve their economic future. FSS coordinates education, training and job placement programs to help residents become more economically self-sufficient. There are currently nineteen families in the FSS program and eight families have an escrow account established. Other programs include Computer Tots, Computer Explorers, After-School Tutoring and GED classes. Due to extensive renovations to the community center, these classes were relocated to another community
The Police Neighborhood Resource Center is a community-based strategy focusing on community policing by law enforcement officers, crime prevention, intervention, treatment, and neighborhood restoration.
The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Clubs provide after-school tutorial programs during the school year and day-long programs during the summer for youths ages 6-14. Due to the extensive renovation to the Claremont Court’s community Room, this program has been temporarily relocated to another GHA community.
Resident Services provides referral for emergency assistance to residents of all communities who are in need of assistance with rent, utilities, food and transportation. A Resident Services Coordinator provides technical assistance to all Resident Councils.
