Community Programs

The Gateway Plaza Wellness Clinic is staffed by faculty and students from the School of Nursing at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. The staff provides general health assessments, including screenings for blood pressure and blood sugar levels, weight loss/gain, and medication adherence.

Guilford County Technical College provides a sewing class for residents two times a week. In addition, a crafts class meets once a week.

Senior Resources of Guilford conducts the Congregate Meal Program at Gateway Plaza. The program operates Monday through Friday, and residents who are registered to participate receive a free lunch, but a donation is requested.

The GHA Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program is available to residents of Gateway. The FSS Program offers opportunities for residents to improve their economic future. FSS coordinates education, training and job placement programs to help residents become more economically self-sufficient. There is currently one resident in the FSS program and no families have an escrow.

The Resident Services Counselor for Older Adults coordinates activities, programs and supportive services, ranging from counseling to referrals for benefit programs, for residents of Gateway Plaza to help them live independently.

Resident Services provides referrals for emergency assistance to residents of all communities who are in need of assistance with rent, utilities, food and furniture. A Resident Services Coordinator provides technical assistance to all Resident Councils.
